How long does it take to receive a standard or non-standard BRM from Protective Structures?
There are many factors to consider, but generally a new standard unit can be delivered in 4-8 weeks after receipt of order (ARO). In the case of our rental fleet, we can generally ship a unit within 24-48 hours ARO. Lastly, complete custom systems can generally ship within 8-16 weeks after drawing approval and ARO.
What does a BRM protect against?
Antiterrorism/forced protection (AT/FP) and vapor cloud explosions (VCE) blasts or explosions, ballistic and projectile ordinance, fire, wind (tornados & hurricanes), earthquakes, and forced entry.
What is the field tested rating for a BRM?
63 psi (321 psi msec impulse) blast
The test blasting utilized a 9,000 lbs high explosive ANFO (ammonium nitrate/fuel oil) charge at a stand-off of 150ft.
The testing was completed three times over a period of one week, without any modifications between blasts, against the same test units. All units survived testing with no damage to the structural integrity and physical security of the BRM unit, with success in ensuring personnel and/or equipment located within the structure would have a 100% survivable rating from the blast or projectiles from the blast wave and fire ball resulting from the explosion.. Testing data can be viewed here.
Are BRMs API RP 752/753 Certified?
API RP 752/753 is a recommend practice with guidelines for where the buildings should be located. There are no building specifications within these Recommended Practices, other than that the building be able to protect occupants from the potential hazards in the area in which it is place. There is no ‘certification’ process for buildings to be API RP 752/753 compliant.
Are BRMs built on an ISO container size specification?
Yes, the sizes are standardized, but we also have non-ISO standard sizes with higher ceilings. All of our units have lifting
lugs to aid with movement of the units.
Can you link multiple standard units together or create a custom designed modular unit?
Yes, we work with our clients to develop the right solution. Our proprietary connector system allows multiple units to be connected in-line, back-to-back and even multiple stories.
Is the BRM ADA compliant?
This depends on local code requirements and customer needs, but ADA compliance can be accommodated in all of our designs.
Has your product, or the materials used in the construction of your product been approved by any government agency?
Yes, we have letters of acceptance from Miami-Dade County, State of California, Los Angeles City, and New York City.
I want to use an BRM as a personal bunker under-ground, is that possible?
Yes, we work with our customers on all kinds of unique situations – from panic rooms, bunkers to personal living spaces.
Our standard units can be customized for under-ground operation, including water, air, electrical and other utility needs.
Does PS install systems on customer’s sites?
Yes, we generally assign an installation certified project manager and work with local contractors to accomplish installation at a competitive rate.
How is transportation handled to the site?
All modes of transportation are supported, including our own internal trucking option, and on-site rail spur connecting to UP, KCS & BNSF railroads.
When do I take ownership of my BRM unit and who handles the transportation logistics?
All units are FOB, or freight-on-board, from Paris, Texas. FOB specified that the seller takes responsibility of the unit at the dock in Paris. The seller is responsible for the transportation fees from Paris, Texas, to the specified destination. PS can, and requested, will handle all logistics coordination and either bill the transportation fees to the client, or the client can coordinate pick-up and delivery.
